Our web servers run stable Debian GNU/Linux because it's fast, secure and extremely reliable.

Over 80% of internal Vorboss services are provided by servers running Debian. We use it for everything from database clusters and VoIP softswitches to web proxy servers and most of our billing platform. Debian has a history of being one of the most security-focused and stable Linux distributions availble.

Our public website and control panel are Java powered.

We love Java because it's great for all the cross-platform integration work that we do. Across the Vorboss network we have a variety of systems from a wide range of vendors. In most cases we have written integration software to link-up these disparate systems. Java is the perfect tool for the job.

Our front-end web servers run Apache.

The Apache HTTP server is the most popular HTTP server in use worldwide. It's pretty fast, very reliable and great for reverse-proxying sites like this one. We drop in SSL support and caching to further increase the overall performance of our software stack.

Our back-end application servers run Apache Tomcat.

Tomcat is fast, lightweight and quick to deploy. It's perfect for simple web applications that don't require a full J2EE container. We use the AJP binary protocol to proxy content from our Tomcat servers for seamless integration.

Our database cluster is MySQL Community Server.

We run a MySQL cluster based on the Community Server edition, providing a highly-available database back-end. Using some in-house integration code we have excellent performance monitoring and robust backups.
